Reasons to Take a Psychedelic Medicine

Human beings have been using natural plant medicines as psychedelics to achieve altered states of consciousness since the dawn of man (Check out Food of the Gods by Terence Mckenna). Even in Homer's Odyssey, humanity's oldest story, Helen slips a psychedelic into the soldier's wine to ease their pains. While I don't condone giving anyone medicine without their consent, that does beg the question, why DOES an individual choose to take psychedelics? While these categories are in no way official, I see the motivations for taking psychedelic medicines as falling under 4 general umbrellas:

Curious/Scientific
A desire to seek and understand deeply the knowledge, beauty, and underlying truths that the universe has to offer.
Creative/Playful
A desire to participate in and even create new beauty, knowledge, and truth in the universe. There is never anything wrong with bringing some lightness and play to a psychedelic space.
Internal Connection
A desire to more fully understand the innermost workings and motivations of the self. To open a dialogue with one's own subconscious in the effort of meta-programming the mind.
Spiritual Connection
A desire to connect more fully with the chorus of living beings around us, and the underlying life force of the universe. While modern western cultures like to minimize or make taboo these practices, they have been a centerpiece of human cultures for millennia
Guided Psychedelic Therapy
I am not a licensed clinical therapist or a doctor, I'm not even a shaman or a guru. I am a guide. I provide safety, comfort, and experience for a journey through unknown terrain. Having an experienced guide facilitate your experience allows you to take an appropriate dosage to reach an altered state of consciousness while maintaining the confidence, resources, and support to do so safely. Despite decades of malicious attacks from government and lobbyists, research into psychedelic therapy and altered states of consciousness is showing profound results for personal mental health. From depression and mood disorders, all the way to inspiration and self-enlightenment, a guide can essentially deepen and enhance the experience of psychedelic medicines
